His Excellency the Acting Governor, Mr. Robert Mathavious, in consultation with the Premier, Dr. the Honorable D. Orlando Smith; the Permanent Secretary in the Deputy Governor’s Office, Mrs. Carolyn Stoutt-Igwe and the Department of Disaster Management (DDM) agreed that Government Offices will open as usual on Thursday 10th August 2017.

Electricity has been restored to the majority of the Territory and the BVI Electricity Corporation’s restoration teams are steadily addressing minor outstanding areas that are still without power.

The DDM has stated that the Antigua and Barbuda Meteorological Services forecasts indicated that some showers, which could be moderate to locally heavy at times, are possible. These conditions are expected to linger across the area into Friday. Thereafter, dry and stable conditions are expected to return to the area as a high pressure ridge becomes dominant once again.

The DDM will continue to monitor weather systems and provide updates when they become available.

Please continue to monitor local media stations, DDM’s website (bviddm.com) and Facebook at BVIDDM for regular updates.
