Tropical Storm Laura severely impacts Haiti’s South Municipalities

(Department of Public Information) Haiti has been impacted by the passage of Tropical Storm Laura. The Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) reports that mainly the South municipalities have been severely impacted which includes road blockages and flooding. 

So far there has been extensive agricultural damage and to date nine (9) deaths have been recorded with two (2) persons reported missing. 

Six (6) shelters have been established so far and assessment teams from various sectors are still conducting assessments with response support from the Haitian Red Cross and the Pan-American Health Organisation (PAHO). 

CDEMA, Guyana’s Civil Defence Commission (CDC) and all participating states will continue to monitor the situation.
