2014 – a symbolic year for Regional Statistics
When I stop and reflect, this year 2014 is really symbolic for Regional Statistics and I am happy that Guyana which has been a full Member of the Standing Committee of Caribbean Statisticians is honoured to be the host this year. For we are celebrating both the 39th Annual meeting of the Standing Committee of Caribbean Statisticians and the fortieth (40th) anniversary of the establishment of our Body in 1974 by a decision of the Fourth meeting of the Common Market Council of Ministers of Caricom. So the SCCS has been an enduring body because forty (40) years is no ordinary time…, so the SCCS, without debate, has been one of the enduring institutions of CARICOM.
– Chief Statistician, Guyana, Mr. Lennox Benjamin
