CARICOM Competition Commission pleased with appointment of its former Commissioner as Barbados Chief Justice
The CARICOM Competition Commission is pleased at the appointment of former Commissioner, Mr. Patterson Cheltenham GCM, Q.C. as the next Chief Justice of Barbados.
In 2008 Mr. Cheltenham was one of the first Commissioners appointed by the Regional Judicial and Legal Services Commission to the newly formed CARICOM Competition Commission.
During his tenure Mr. Chetlenham was instrumental in assisting with the development of the Commission’s Rules of Procedure. Additionally, he was the lead Commissioner on discussions for proposed amendments to Chapter 8 of the Revised Treaty of Chaguaramas.
In 2012 Mr. Cheltenham was re-appointed to serve a second term on the Board of Commissioners of the CARICOM Competition Commission and he served until 2018.
The Commission is truly appreciative of the contribution of former Commissioner Cheltenham to the jurisprudence of competition and consumer protection laws and policy in the region and wishes him every success in his new role.
