(Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre Press Release) The Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC) takes this opportunity to extend congratulations to President Joseph Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris on their successful inauguration.

Furthermore, the CCCCC warmly welcomes President Biden’s recommitment of the United States to the Paris Agreement and looks forward to enhancing our collaboration and cooperation, in building climate change resilience and pursuing actions to mitigate the emissions of greenhouse gases in the Region.

We trust that the United States will join with CARICOM Member States and the rest of the world and submit bold Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) to the United Nations Framework Convention of Climate Change (UNFCCC) that will catalyse global climate ambition and actions to deliver on the promises of Paris to keep global temperatures to 1.5° Celsius.

Climate Change remains an existential threat to Caribbean states. As such, the CCCCC looks forward to the strong leadership of the United States leading up to and at COP 26 in Glasgow to advance global efforts to combat Climate Change.

About Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre

The Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre is an inter-governmental Caribbean Community (CARICOM) institution that is mandated by the CARICOM Heads of Government to coordinate the Region’s response to climate change. We maintain the Caribbean’s most extensive repository of information and data on climate change specific to the region, which in part enables us to provide climate change-related policy advice and guidelines to CARICOM Member States.

In this role, the Centre is recognised by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, the United Nations Environment Programme, and other international agencies as the Caribbean Community
Climate Change Centre focal point for climate change issues in the Caribbean. The Centre is also one of the few institutions
recognised as a Centre of Excellence by United Nations Institute for Training and Research.

CCCCC is empowering the Caribbean Community to act on climate change.
