CARICOM Secretariat staffers showcasing talent this week
The CARICOM Secretariat will once again showcase the aptitude of its team in the annual staff talent celebrations from November 25-27, 2015. This year’s activities will be held under the theme ‘Utilising Talents, Boosting Economies’.
The celebration will begin with what has been dubbed Wednesday Fever. CARICOM Secretary General, Ambassador Irwin LaRocque, will declare the activities open. The Office of Trade Negotiations (OTN) and the CSME Office will join the opening celebrations via video conference. The opening day will showcase a grand exhibit of the following categories: art, craft, design, horticulture, photography, multi-media and collectibles.
The following day has been designated Tasty Thursday! On this day the staff will participate in a culinary arts exhibition and dance-a-thon. In the culinary exhibition, participants will have the opportunity to experience each other’s culture through food. There will be many scrumptious dishes prepared by staff including foods from different CARICOM Member States and various traditional beverages and baked delicacies such as cakes, puddings and pastries. This event promises to be a treat for everyone’s taste buds! In the afternoon, staff will dance off the calories from the culinary exhibition by participating in a Dance-a-thon which will include Zumba and Thairobics.
Staff will continue to enjoy the celebrations on Chill-Off Friday! Activities will include performing arts such as singing, dancing and a skit that showcases cultural situations originating from various CARICOM Member States. Staff will also be strutting on the CCS runway showing off their best model poses and outfits. Grill Master and Cocktail/Mixology Competitions later in the afternoon will add further zest and competition to the staff talent activities. At the end of the day, the CARICOM Staff Association will host a party for staff so everyone can enjoy some good food, relax and unwind after a week of fruitful events.
