Strong CARICOM collaboration on key climate change issues – SG
CARICOM Secretary-General Ambassador Irwin LaRocque is praising the strong, focussed collaboration among CARICOM Negotiators and Ministers for keeping the Region’s Climate Change concerns at the forefront of deliberations at the UN Climate Change Conference, COP 21, in France. He also credits the presentations by CARICOM Heads of Government at the start of the Conference last week for setting the tone.
CARICOM has been pressing for global commitment on several key issues, including future temperature rises, loss and damage, special consideration for Small Island and Low-lying Developing States, and enhanced financing to support climate change action. An outcome document is expected by the close of the Conference on Friday.
