All systems go for TnT Carnival 2016 – Minister

With about 30 days to Carnival 2016, construction is in its final stage for the ‘Home of Carnival’ at the Queen’s Park Savannah, Port of Spain.

On Tuesday January 5, 2016, Dr. the Honourable Nyan Gadsby-Dolly, Minister of Community Development, Culture and the Arts was part of a tour of the Queen’s Park Savannah facilities; including the Grand Stand, the in-progress North Stand, and environs.

The Minister spoke with media at the start of the tour stating, “The total expenditure for Carnival this year is just about TT $270 million”.  When asked about the recent call by the Prime Minister to cut expenditure by 7%, she said, “Today, the Permanent Secretaries met to further streamline for the cut, however, the Carnival season is well underway and there are few additional cuts that could be made at this point.”
