Students tour CARICOM Secretariat as part of Mashramani activities
Students from the Sand Creek Secondary School in Region Nine (Upper Takutu/Upper Essequibo), Guyana, toured the CARICOM Secretariat on Monday as part of its week of activities in Georgetown for Mashramani.

The touring party took a nine-hour drive into Georgetown from their community to spend a week in Georgetown for the opportunity to have an educational tour of the city.
The students were guided on the tour by CARICOM Communications Officer Jascene Malcolm who gave them a walk through of the Secretariat and a brief presentation about CARICOM’s history and objectives.
Mashramani, often abbreviated to ‘Mash’, is an annual festival that celebrates Guyana becoming a Republic in 1970. The observance is held on 23 February . ‘Mashramani’ is an Amerindian word that means “celebration after hard work”.
