St. Lucians vote today
St. Lucians are voting today in General Elections.
The Electoral Office says 160, 465 voters are eligible to cast ballots at the 430 polling stations scattered across the island. They will chose from among 39 candidates vying for the 17 seats in the country’s parliament.

The St. Lucia Labour Party (SLP) of Prime Minister Dr. Kenny Anthony and the United Workers Party (UWP) of Businessman and former Tourism Minister Allen Chastenet are both fielding full slates of 17 candidates. In the last elections, in 2011, the SLP won 11 seats and the UWP six.
Polls are scheduled to close at 6:00 p.m. and announcement of the results should begin soon after.
