Saint Lucians vote for change
The United Workers Party (UWP) led by businessman and former Tourism Minister Allen Chastenet was voted into office in St. Lucia’s general elections, Monday.
Preliminary results show the UWP won 11 of the 17 seats at stake. The St. Lucia Labour Party (SLP) of outgoing Prime Minister Dr. Kenny Anthony won the other six.
The results were a reversal of the last elections in 2011 when the SLP won 11 seats to the UWP’s six.
Mr Chastenet is expected to be sworn in on Tuesday and said he will move swiftly to announce his Cabinet of Ministers
