Election Day in Turks and Caicos Islands

The people of the Turks and Caicos Islands vote today, Thursday 15 December 2016, to elect a new government.

The ruling Progressive National Party (PNP) led by Premier Dr. Rufus Ewing, the main opposition People’s Democratic Movement (PDM) of opposition leader Sharlene Cartwright-Robinson, and the recently formed Peoples Democratic Alliance (PDA) of former Chief Minister Oswald Skippings are vying to lead the country.

The House of Assembly has 19 members; 13 members elected for a four-year term in single seat constituencies, three members ex officio and three appointed members.

The polls opened at 7:00 this morning and are scheduled to close at 7:00 pm.
