Canada working with Caribbean to enhance security
The government of Barbados has been lauded for ratifying the United Nations Convention on Transnational Organised Crime.
Canadian High Commissioner, Richard Hanley, highlighted the government’s recent move, noting that among the protocols of this Convention are provisions aimed at preventing, combating and punishing trafficking in persons – especially women and children – the smuggling of migrants, and the illicit manufacture of and trafficking in firearms, their parts, components, and ammunition.
He was at the time addressing the National Task Force on Crime Prevention National Meeting on Counter – Trafficking Strategies and Prevention in Barbados “Stop Modern Slavery”, which was funded by the Canadian government.
