CARICOM Secretariat holds discussion with Caribbean Central American Action

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM)  Secretariat received a delegation from the Caribbean Central American Action (CCAA) on Tuesday, 4 April, 2017.

The CCAA delegation included Mr. Rick Murrell, Chairman of Tropical Shipping and Vice Chairman of the Board; Ms. Sally Yearwood, Executive Director; Mrs. Jennifer Nugent-Hill, Director, Government and Community Affairs, Tropical Shipping; Ms. Glenis Hodge, Country Manager, Tropical Shipping; Mr. Mark Lopez, Assistant Vice President, Tropical Shipping; and Mr. William Girard III, Vice President/Chief Financial Officer, Tropical Shipping.

The CARICOM Secretariat was represented by Ambassador Colin Granderson, Assistant Secretary-General, Foreign and Community Relations; Mr. Joseph Cox, Assistant Secretary-General, Trade and Economic Integration; Dr. Pauline Yearwood, Deputy Programme Manager, Transportation; and Mr. Dia Christian, Senior Project Officer, CARICOM Single Market and Economy.

The discussions focused on a wide range of issues of importance that are impacting the region and which are relevant to the shared agendas of the two organisations, with the primary areas of discussion being on intra-regional shipping, trade facilitation and CARICOM’s trade relations with the United States.

One of the objectives of the exchange was to foster public-private sector initiatives to promote and increase intra-regional trade.
