Haiti’s President signs agreement to end political deadlock

Haiti’s Head of State signing the agreement to end the country’s political stalemate at the Kinam hotel, Sunday January 11th (President’s Office).

Haiti’s President  HE  Michel Joseph Martelly reached agreement with representatives of opposition political parties on Sunday to end the deep-seated differences blocking the holding of long-delayed elections in the country.  The agreement, which goes before the country’s law makers today, is expected to pave the way for elections to be held later this year.  Mid-term Senate elections were due in May 2012, while the municipal poll is three years behind schedule.
