Haiti’s President signs agreement to end political deadlock

Haiti’s President HE Michel Joseph Martelly reached agreement with representatives of opposition political parties on Sunday to end the deep-seated differences blocking the holding of long-delayed elections in the country. The agreement, which goes before the country’s law makers today, is expected to pave the way for elections to be held later this year. Mid-term Senate elections were due in May 2012, while the municipal poll is three years behind schedule.
