RCC Meets to Discuss Matters for COHSOD Thursday
The Regional Cultural Committee (RCC) held it’s fourth special meeting on Wednesday ahead of the Thirty-Sixth Meeting of the Council for Human and Social Development (COHSOD) scheduled to begin Thursday 6 June 2019.
The meeting was at the CARICOM Secretariat in Georgetown, Guyana. Its main focus was on a permanent logo for the Caribbean Festival of Arts (CARIFESTA). A new logo representative of the roving mega cultural festival has been designed and was examined and analysed and a sample will be presented to the COHSOD Ministers for review.
The committee also discussed a range of other issues that will be taken to the Council on Thursday including a draft Regional Strategy and Action Plan for Cultural Industries in CARICOM and a Proposal for Financing the Regional Cultural Agenda. The RCC last convened in Trinidad and Tobago in March 2019 for its twenty-seventh regular meeting.
The RCC comprises experts responsible for advising Technical Officers and Ministers on matters related to Regional culture including the hosting of CARIFESTA.
The RCC first met in June 1987 in Trinidad and Tobago.
