Dr. the Rt. Honourable Keith Mitchell, Prime Minister of Grenada, urged that everyone “become ambassadors for regional initiatives” such as the Single ICT Space for the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).

Speaking in Port-of-Spain at the opening of week-long celebrations for the 25th Anniversary of the Caribbean Telecommunications Union (CTU), Dr. Mitchell, the Lead Head of Government in CARICOM for Science and Technology, said partnerships were important in achieving the Region’s goals.

All must get involved,” he stated.

The CTU’s celebrations include an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Week at which the principal topic is the Single ICT Space for CARICOM.

Delivering the feature address, Dr. Mitchell said the Community must build the platform to create digital citizens and digital entrepreneurs.

We must also mobilise resources to invest in ICT,” he added.

Emphasising the importance of cyber security in the process, the Prime Minister noted that “our children’s value system must not change because of the revolution in technology.”

Dr. Mitchell called for the creation of a culture of innovation. He said that a real space must be opened for the young people of the Region to be part of that process.

We must engage with the young people,” he stressed.
