Inspirational Sammy hopes for Windies cricket revival

Sammy no longer leads the Test or one-day teams but feels a huge responsibility to restore some pride to the West Indies.
“We are several different islands with their own prime ministers, their own cultures. We come together as one to represent the Caribbean but it’s always difficult. But thanks to Mum, I have this way with people. My character allows me to mingle and adjust to different cultures,” he said to The Age newspaper in Australia where West Indies are currently playing a series of warm up matches ahead of the 2015 Cricket World Cup tournament which bowls off on Saturday.
West Indies won the first two editions of the Cricket World Cup in 1975 and 1979 and die-hard cricket fans are hoping for a return to those glory days during the upcoming tournament. The inspirational Sammy, one of the key members of the current squad, shared his thoughts with The Age.
