#CWA2014 – A day for farmers?
Should a day be set aside each year to celebrate farmers?
His Excellency Soeresh Algoe, Minister of Agriculture of Suriname certainly thinks so, and is rallying his colleagues in the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) to advocate for the observance of International Farmers’ Day on October 8 each year.
At the opening ceremony of the Caribbean Week of Agriculture (CWA) 2014 held in Paramaribo, Suriname, the Minister called for the observance to begin in the Caribbean, and for an approach to the United Nations to declare that date for farmers.
