Region playing prominent role at important International Conference
CARICOM Secretary-General, Ambassador Irwin LaRocque (r) and H.E. George Talbot, Guyana’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
Mr. Talbot has the distinction of serving as co-facilitator (along with the Permanent Representative of Norway to the UN, Geir Pederson) for the preparatory process, including the draft outcome document, of this Third International Conference on Financing for Development, now taking place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The Addis Ababa Action Agenda – as the final outcome will be known – will provide a comprehensive financing framework for sustainable development.
The representatives of governments, the private sector and civil society groups from around the world, are looking at available sources of finances, and seeking to direct resources to where they are needed most to promote economic prosperity, and improve health, education and employment opportunities while protecting the environment.
The CARICOM Secretary-General will address the Conference on Thursday.
