President of the CCJ Sir Denis Byron has welcomed the move by Antigua and Barbuda to embark on national consultations on making the CCJ the country’s final court of appeal and said the nation will benefit significantly by the decision it is making, especially the average man.

The CCJ was established in 2001, and to date, Barbados, Guyana, Belize and Dominica, have signed on to the appellate jurisdiction of the CCJ. The Court also serves as an international tribunal interpreting the Revised Treaty of Chaguaramas that governs the 15-member regional integration movement.
