Baroness Patricia Scotland formally takes office as Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Nations today, April 1, 2016.
On her first day in office, she will visit Dominica, where she was born.

She will call on the President of Dominica, His Excellency Charles Savarin and Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit.
She will then launch and formally commission the rehabilitation of the old Library building on Victoria Street for the establishment of the Dominica Disaster Resource Centre (DDRC)
The project was approved by the government as part of the recommendations of a Scoping Mission to Dominica headed by Scotland recently.
