Minister of Agriculture of Belize, the Hon. Godwin Hulse has expressed condolences to The Bahamas, parts of which were devastated following the passage of Category Five Hurricane Dorian in August.

Speaking on Monday, 30 September, at the Opening Ceremony of the 12th Regional Agricultural Planners’ Forum in Belize, the Minister recalled the devastation on Grand Bahama and Abaco, and also referred to the experiences of his own country with natural disasters.

“We are intrinsically vulnerable,” he told delegates at the two-day Forum while stressing that the Region needed to take steps to protect itself and find a way to work with the changing climate and changing conditions.

“No matter what we do, a hurricane sitting off the coast of Belize that spans from north to south, can wipe out everything we have…” he said, pointing out “we cannot fight Mother Nature”.
