After a mixed bag of good and ordinary performances in the group stage of fhe ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, the West Indies play their quarter-final match against co-host New Zealand tonight starting at 9:00 Eastern Caribbean time.

A win will take them to Monday night’s  semi-final against South Africa and a chance to qualify for the final next Saturday night.

West Indies won three and lost three of their matches in the group stage of the tournament to limp into the second round as the last of the eight qualifying teams. Team and management spokesmen have however said despite going into tonight’s  match as  underdogs they are confident they can create an an upset.

The West Indies won the first two editions of the cricket world cup in 1975 and 1979, and narrowly lost to India in the finals of the third in 1983.
