The Caribbean Agricultural Research and Development Institute (CARDI) has undertaken to work with all stakeholders in Dominica to rebuild the country’s agriculture sector.

The agriculture sector was decimated by Category 5 Hurricane Maria which hit the island on 18 September.

Climate smart practices and technologies will be emphasised in its interventions, CARDI said.

The CARICOM institution made the pledge in a Facebook post in response to an article published on the CARICOM Today blog last week which highlighted the destruction of the sector.

“CARDI pledges to work with all stakeholders in Dominica to rebuild it’s agricultural sector. Emphasis will be placed on the building resilience through the adoption of climate smart practices and technologies”, the institution said.
