Caribbean innovation on display at CWA’s Marketplace
A vast array of products showcasing vision, innovation, and the healthy choices available to the Caribbean, were on display Wednesday evening as the Marketplace of the Caribbean Week of Agriculture (CWA) 2016 opened at Camana Bay, Cayman Islands.
The exhibition features flours made of green bananas, cassava and sweet potatoes, wine made of pumpkin and mango ponche de creme, burgers made of lamb and a combination of coconut and cassava flours, and wide varieties of condiments and skin care products. Women and young entrepreneurs were well represented at the Marketplace.

On hand to view the products were Cayman Islands Premier, the Hon Alden McLaughlin and other government representatives, CARICOM Secretary-General, Ambassador Irwin LaRocque and other CARICOM Secretariat officials, and delegates who are attending the CWA.

The CWA is being held under the theme ‘Investing in Food and Agriculture’. The Week featured an investment forum, seminars and workshops, field trips and Meetings of of activities. It wraps up tomorrow with the Sixty-second Special Meeting of the Council for Trade and Economic Development (COTED) on Agriculture. This is the first time that the CWA is being held in an Associate Member of CARICOM, and the first time that a Ministerial Council will meet in an Associate Member.
