CARICOM Chairman, Prime Minister Freundel Stuart of Barbados and Lead CARICOM Head of Government for Climate Change, Prime Minister Dr. Kenny Anthony of St. Lucia participated in a meeting between Heads of Small Island States and US President Barrack Obama on the sidelines of the COP21 in France, Tuesday.

The Caribbean Catastrophe Risk Insurance Facility (CCRIF) has reported that a major outcome of the discussion was a pledge by President Obama of US30 million to support expansion of the CCRIFF, the Pacific Catastrophic Risk Assessment and Financing Initiative (PCRAFI) and the African Risk Capacity (ARC).  The support will help vulnerable populations rebuild stronger after climate related disasters.
