CARICOM Electoral Observer Mission begins work
Members of the CARICOM Electoral Observer Mission have begun meetings and briefings with key stakeholders in the run-up to general and regional elections in Guyana.
Team members, Head of Mission, Mr. Earl Anthony Simpson of Jamaica and his deputy Ms. Josephine Amelita Tamai of Belize, met with representatives of the media on Thursday morning at the CARICOM Secretariat ahead of a meeting with the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM).
Also scheduled for Thursday were meetings with Presidential candidates and organisations including the Guyana Public Service Union (GPSU), the Guyana Trades Union Congress, the Guyana Human Rights Association (GHRA), the Private Sector Commission (PSC) and the Guyana Council of Churches (GCC).
