Caribbean Statistics Day is being observed under the theme ‘Building Resilience of the Caribbean Community’.

The efforts of statisticians must be applauded as they continued to forge ahead with strategic initiatives to fill the Region’s data needs, CARICOM Secretary-General, Ambassador Irwin LaRocque, said Monday.

In a message to mark Caribbean Statistics Day being observed across the Region today, the Secretary-General referred to the “significant achievements” made in statistics, including the endorsement of the Strategic Framework for the Regional Strategy for the Development of Statistics (RSDS) in CARICOM in July.

Expanding on the RSDS, Amb. LaRocque said that it was a regional strategic plan that was aimed at strengthening and improving the availability of statistics for evidence-based decision-making.
