CARICOM SG in Suriname for President Bouterse’s inauguration

Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Ambassador Irwin LaRocque (l) greets Ambassador Michel Kerpens of Suriname ahead of this morning’s inauguration of H.E. Desi Bouterse as President of Suriname at the National Indoor Stadium in Paramaribo.

The CARICOM Secretary-General is among regional and international dignitaries in Suriname for the ceremony, due to begin at 11:00 a.m.

Mr. Bouterse’s National Democratic Party won 26 of the 51 seats in the National Assembly in elections held in May.
