CARIFESTA XII Grand Market opens with huge concert

A huge concert marked the opening of the CARIFESTA XII Grand Market at Champs De Mars in Haiti on Friday night! The event was jam-packed with Haitians and patrons from across the region. A highlight of the evening was a performance by the Supernovas Steel Band from Trinidad and Tobago. There were also performances from Haitian Dance Troops which brought an explosion of color, exotic movement and agility to the event.

Meanwhile, at the Kiosque nearby, there was another concert that saw scores of persons rocking and singing to the world renowned group Tabou Combo. Haitian President , His Excellency Michel Martelly, an artiste himself, joined the band on stage and it was an all night party for everyone!

CARIFESTA XII continues today with a beach lime and performances in Les Cayes, located approximately three and a half hours outside of Haiti’s capital Port Au Prince. There will also be country performances and Art Exhibitions at various venues in the capital and the Grand Market will be open everyday for the duration of the festival.
