Forty to contest Saint Lucia’s elections
Forty candidates have registered for St. Lucia’s general elections on 6 June 2016.
The two major political parties – the ruling St. Lucia Labour Party (SLP) of Prime Minister Dr. Kenny Anthony and the main opposition United Workers Party led by hotelier Mr. Allan Chastenet registered full slates of 17 candidates each during Nomination Day on Saturday.
Two other parties – the Lucian peoples Party and the Lucian Greens Party each registered one candidate and there are four Independent candidates.
The SLP currently held 11 seats and the UWP six in the outgoing parliament.
