Historic occasion for Guyana as first five-star hotel opens

The much anticipated five-star Marriott Hotel, Guyana has opened its doors to the world with President Donald Ramotar unveiling the plaque and cutting the ribbon today.

The luxurious multi-million dollar hotel sits in proximity of where the mouth of the Demerara River meets the Atlantic Ocean and is the first of its kind to grace Guyana’s shores.

Toasting to the Guyana Mariott’s success, the President wished the management and staff well, noting that “this is indeed a historic occasion for us to have a world class hotel here in Guyana. I’ve seen many hotels in the world and this doesn’t compare to any I’ve seen.”
