CARICOM, India affirm value of diplomatic cooperation
Secretary-General Ambassador Irwin LaRocque welcomes H.E. Mr. Venkatachalam Mahalingam, Plenipotentiary Representative of India to the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).
The Caribbean Community and India on Friday affirmed the importance they attached to diplomatic cooperation as a new Indian envoy was accredited to CARICOM.
During a short ceremony at the CARICOM Secretariat in Georgetown, Guyana, His Excellency Vankatachalam Mahalingam presented his Letters of Credence to Secretary-General Ambassador Irwin LaRocque. India’s new envoy to CARICOM said the relationship between his country and CARICOM had matured since 1997 with a convergence of views on international issues related to climate change, sustainable development, concerns of Small Island Developing States and renewable energy.
