PM Skerrit sworn in for new term

Dominica’s Prime Minister Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit taking the oath of office for a new term yesterday.

Prime Minister Skerrit led his Dominica Labour Party (DLP) to its fourth successive victory in Monday’s general elections. The preliminary count gave the DLP 15 seats, while the United Workers Party (UWP) under new leader Lennox Linton won the other six in the 21 seat Parliament.  A five-member CARICOM Observation Mission monitored the elections, and issued a preliminary statement yesterday in which it declared the conduct of the poll  free and fair.

The Prime Minister said he would announce the composition of his Cabinet on Saturday.
