The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) joins the rest of the world to anxiously await the 2016 Summer Olympics that open Friday evening at the Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
More than 11 000 athletes from 205 International Committee Members will be competing over 16 days in 42 disciplines across 32 venues in Rio.
CARICOM Member States have fielded teams to the events headlined by Olympians Usain Bolt, Kirani James and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and including fresh faces, all hoping to medal at the premier sports event.
