SG meets delegations from countries seeking Associate Membership

The first of five territories seeking Associate Membership of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) met with  the  Secretary-General Ambassador Irwin LaRocque at the CARICOM Secretariat headquarters on Wednesday.

A delegation from Curaçao, which, along with Sint Maarten, Guadeloupe, French Guiana and Martinique, have applied for Associate Membership, held wide-ranging discussions focused on the terms and conditions of Associate Membership, the expectations of the territory and the relationship between Curaçao and the Community. The delegation, which comprised Mrs Joelle deJong-Mercelina, Director (ag.) of Foreign Relations and Ms Annette Morón, Policy Officer, Directorate of Foreign Relations, also met with other officials of the Secretariat.
