UN SG telephones President Granger
Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN), His Excellency Ban Ki Moon on Thursday telephoned President of Guyana, His Excellency Brigadier David Granger on the Guyana-Venezuela border controversy.

According to the UN, the Secretary-General apprised President Granger of his intent to dispatch UN Secretariat staffers to undertake a mission to both Guyana and Venezuela.
In the telephone conversation the UN Secretary-General expressed his willingness to further discuss the issue with the Presidents of both countries on the basis of the mission’s recommendations.
A dispatch from the United Nations said that the Secretary-General “took note of President Granger’s views regarding the Guyana-Venezuela border controversy”.
The UN Secretary-General held discussions with President Granger on the margins of the Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) in Barbados earlier in July.
