CARICOM Cuba Talks open today in Havana

sg in Cuba addressing mediaCARICOM Secretary-General Ambassador Irwin Larocque addressing the Media on arrival at the Jose Marti International airport in Havana on Saturday night, ahead of  today’s fifth CARICOM-Cuba Summit.

The Secretary General will join CARICOM Chairman Hon. Gaston Brown, Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, and His Excellency Raoul Castro Ruz, President of Cuba to address today’s Opening Ceremony at the Palace of the Revolution.

Today’s meeting gives the Leaders an opportunity to look at the present situation with the Trade and Economic Agreement which the two parties signed in 2000.  The two sides will also discuss strengthening co-operation in multi-lateral fora.
