Barbadians vote in record setting elections
Barbadians began voting from 6:00 am (ECT) Thursday to elect a new government.
A record seven political parties with a record 132 candidates, including a record 37 women, are vying for control of the 30-member parliament.
Political observers in Bridgetown predict the election will be a straight fight between the incumbent Democratic Labour Party (DLP) of Prime Minister Freundel Stuart and the main opposition Barbados Labour Party (BLP) led by lawyer Ms Mia Mottley.
The polls are schedule to close at 6:00 pm and counting of votes should begin at 8:00 pm.
