Barbados launches Caribbean Week Of Agriculture on Monday
The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security of Barbados will launch the Caribbean Week of Agriculture on Monday, 1 October, at 10:00 a.m., at the Ministry’s headquarters, Graeme Hall, Christ Church. The CWA will be held from Monday, October 8, to Friday, October 12, under the theme ‘Strengthening agriculture for a healthier future in the Region’.
Among the features of the launch will be remarks by the Hon. Indar Weir, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security of Barbados.
During the CWA, the opportunity is taken by regional organisations to host a number of workshops, which will be held simultaneously throughout each day. Among the topics to be covered under the Technical Workshops to be conducted, will be the following:
• Development of the Regional Coconut Industry.
• Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship
• Climate Resilience in the Agriculture and Fisheries Sectors
• Small Ruminants
• The School Feeding Programme
As is customary, a Special Meeting of the Council for Trade and Economic Development (COTED) on Agriculture will be held during the week of activities.
