Another World Cup win for Jamaica’s Alia
Jamaica’s swimming sensation Alia Atkinson fought off the determined challenge of her Russian competitors to take gold in the Women’s 50 m Breaststroke Finals at the OCBC Aquatic Centre in Singapore on Saturday.
Atkinson, with her fastest reaction time in the World Cup series – 0.63 secs – powered her way over the two lap event to touch the wall in 28.93 seconds, maintaining her perfect win record in the 2018 series.
Saturday’s win brings her total medal haul for the series to eight gold and two silver. These include gold in the 100 metre breaststroke finals on Friday which senior writer in the online Magazine Swim Swam Loretta Race described as ‘a beautiful effort’
