Nineteen countries confirmed for CARIFESTA XIV
With five months to go to CARIFESTA XIV, 19 countries have confirmed their attendance at this premier festival of the arts from 16 – 25 August 2019, in Trinidad and Tobago. Sixteen Caribbean Member States and Associate Members have responded to the official invitation to participate in the Festival which was issued on 7 December 2018.
The following countries have all confirmed their attendance: Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, The Bahamas, Belize, Dominica, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Montserrat, St. Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, Anguilla, Cayman Islands and Turks and Caicos Islands. In addition, Canada, Venezuela and Curacao have also signalled their intention to participate in the event.
Locals and guests will have an opportunity to experience the Caribbean’s many cultures in one mega arts festival via 150 events throughout the twin-island state. The public can look forward to Signal and Niche events, four Community Festivals, the Grand Market hub, Children and Youth Village, Workshops and Symposia, and the Super Concert featuring the likes of Machel Montano, Shaggy, Kassav, Calypso Rose and Ricardo Drue. Unlike many of the internationally known festivals, CARIFESTA XIV brings delegations representing the dance, music, craft, visual arts, theatre, film and food from the entire Caribbean to one stage for 10 days.
