CARICOM One on One focuses on Immunisation
In this week’s edition of CARICOM One one One we focus on Immunisation.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) has reported that since 1 January 2018, 47 of the 53 countries in the European Region have together reported more than 100 000 measles cases and more than 90 measles-related deaths. There have been also been reports of cases in the United States and other parts of the world, with a cruise ship recently being quarantined off the coast of Saint Lucia due to a suspected case of measles.
With concerns about this outbreak rising, Dr. James Hospedales of the Trinidad and Tobago-based regional institution, the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA), speaks with the CARICOM Secretariat’s Jascene Dunkley Malcolm on measles, immunisation and whether or not the CARICOM Region is at risk.
