Every year, on 22 May, the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) celebrates International Day for Biological Diversity (IBD).

The 2019 theme is “Our Biodiversity, Our Food, Our Health”. This year’s IBD provides a unique opportunity to examine the relationship between biodiversity, its underpinning of food security and human health and well-being.

The Sustainable Development Programme (SDP) of the CARICOM Secretariat held a celebratory panel discussion around this theme on Tuesday 21 May 2019 at the CARICOM Secretariat. The panelists were Dr. Patrick Chesney, Project Coordinator, ACP MEAs Project, CARICOM Secretariat; Ms. Abigail Caleb, Nutritionist, Food Policy Division- Ministry of Public Health, Guyana; and Mr. Shaun Baugh, Programme Manager, Agricultural and Agro-Industrial Development, CARICOM Secretariat.
