Dominicans Vote Today

It’s Election Day in the Commonwealth of Dominica.

The incumbent Dominica Labour Party of Prime Minister Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit and the opposition United Workers Party led by Mr. Lennox Linton are both fielding full slates for the 21 seat Parliament. There are also two independent candidates.

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM), at the invitation of the Government of Dominica, has mounted a  seven member CARICOM Election Observation Mission, headed by Miss Lena Sahadeo of Trinidad and Tobago,  to observe today’s poll.

The Mission will monitor the electoral process including the opening of the Poll, the voting process, the closing of the Poll and the counting of the ballots. The Mission will issue a preliminary statement based on its observations and findings. A report of the General Elections will be subsequently prepared and submitted to the CARICOM Secretary-General.
