LIAT shifts base from Antigua
Despite Antigua & Barbuda’s recent multi-million dollar cash injection into regional carrier LIAT, shareholder governments were not swayed into keep the carrier’s fleet base here.
Early February, Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance, Senator Lennox Weston, who is one of three members of LIAT board representing Antigua and Barbuda, said Cabinet would be considering increasing its shareholdings in the airline.
Last week, Weston said an eight and a half million – dollar injection into the regional carrier, by Antigua & Barbuda, helped increase the country’s directors on the board to three and reduced Barbados’ from five to four.
