Guyana Elections – announcement of results to begin Tuesday
Election officials in Guyana on Monday night postponed the 11:00 p.m scheduled start of the announcement of elections results to today, Tuesday.
The Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) told a late night media briefing that there were challenges moving ‘statements of polls and ballot boxes from polling stations’.

GECOM had earlier reported a smooth election day process, with just a few minor hiccups, and said its conduct of the poll had been praised by the regional, international and local observer missions.
Just over 570,000 voters were registered for Monday’s general and regional elections. They will elect a President and a 65-member National Assembly.
