New Guyana President sworn in

Retired Brigadier David Granger was sworn in as President of Guyana before a large crowd gathered at the Parliament building in Georgetown on Saturday afternoon.
President Granger led his coalition A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) and Alliance For Change (AFC) to victory in the general elections held on 11 May 2015.
The Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) in its final declaration of results on Saturday, announced that the APNU/AFC coalition got 207, 200 votes and the outgoing Peoples Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) 202,694. The APNU/AFC will have 33 seats in Parliament and the PPP/C 32.
