Two Jamaicans in a World Cup Swimming Finals – A First

Jamaican swimming sensation Alia Atkinson had her country-woman Breanna Marie Laurin Roman for company in the search for top honours in the Women’s 100m Breaststroke Finals at the Singapore leg of the Swimming World Cup 2018 series, on Friday. It was the first time two Jamaican swimmers competed in the same World Cup finals.

Atkinson took 1st position in a time of 1:02.74, just off her world record of 1:02:36,  while Roman was 6th in 1:07.64. The other swimmers in Friday’s finals were from  Russia, Britain, Germany, Hong Kong and Singapore.

The Singapore leg of the World Cup Series continues Saturday.
